Celia Welch – one of Napa’s top winemakers, most notable for her work with the iconic Scarecrow wines – has been making these wines for years. If you knew nothing else about this wine, that would be enough. But the price! This is simply incredible stuff for Napa reds UNDER $50!

Drinks like $100+, easy. So DARK, mysterious, percolating with uber-rich scents and flavors of wild boysenberries, figs, mocha, and black cherry. Big, structured, deep, and mouth coating for sure. The exact blend is a mystery – but typically, in prior vintages, there is about 90% cabernet sauvignon, and then a hunk of petit verdot – the structure, the intensity, the deep, ripe berry notes…it must be! But also the chocolate-dipped plum of merlot, the floral spicy note of cabernet franc… just a myriad tapestry of classic Napa Valley flavors!
