This grenache is a deft, aromatic, and elegant style – awash with light red fruits of summer strawberries, rainier cherries, and fresh raspberries. The fruits are complemented with grassy notes of torn basil and white pepper and warmed on the finish with earthy notes of new saddle leather and fresh pipe tobacco. It's an absolute stunner with enchiladas and red mole, but that is just one of a hundred hearty, spiced foods that would sing with this. 

Before starting Merisi, Mandy was a long-time assistant winemaker at Cain Vineyards on Spring Mountain, and had also notched her belt at well-known wineries like Tignanello, Heitz, Nickel & Nickel, and more while earning her masters in Oenology from UC Davis. The name Merisi is from the birth name of Italian Baroque painter, Caravaggio – who was known for his distinctive and signature painting style that marked him clearly from his peers. With a small portfolio of only five wines (two whites and three reds) from select, sustainably-farmed vineyards, Merisi is set to attain a similar distinctive quality – creating food-friendly wines of balance and passion.
