Champagne Gallimard Cuvee Amphoressence Brut Nature NV

Proprietary Blends  |  France

Drinking Gallimard just makes us all warm and fuzzy inside. We discovered them years back when they were virtually unknown outside of France. Now, the world is taking note. These are grower-producers of the first order, changing the game in the Côte des Bar! Wait until you see the price!!!

Gallimard! 6 generations, deep underground cellars in the 17th-century winery, right in the heart of Les Riceys, in the southern (and slightly warmer) part of Champagne. Over 60% OFF is simply surreal for a bone-dry, precise, and complex Champagne of this quality!

Amphoressence is one of the top cuvees for Arnaud Gallimard. This is a “brut nature” bubbly, meaning no extra sugar is added via dosage after disgorgement – allowing this wine to maintain freshness and minerality that is so desirable these days with bubbly connoisseurs. 50% pinot noir and 50% chardonnay, with a majority of this wine aged in clay amphorae imported from Tuscany. Wine Enthusiast recently chose Gallimard as one of the "Champagne Producers Redefining France’s Bubbly", and we’re thrilled to have been supporting this fine Champagne family for years now.

The nose is aromatic, elegant, and savory. Custards, lemon zest, white flowers, a whisper of vanilla… just perfect opulence. The mouth offers similar richness but harnessed and driven by a persistent acidity, adding notes of Meyer lemon, Bartlett pear, yuzu, and crema catalana. A beautiful Champagne made even more desirable by this astounding price! You won’t believe it!!

92 Wine Enthusiast -
Aging for six months in amphora has given this wine a rounded, slightly oxidative character. Even though it is bone dry, its aftertaste has matured quickly and lost its tight acidity. The wine is fresh while also rich and ready to drink now.
