Kauzo Estates Cofermented Malbec Uco Valley 2019
Malbec | Argentina
This is an utterly classic Mendoza malbec at an unbelievable price! It’s so immediately delectable, we grabbed a second glass…92 POINTS at the incredible price of $13.95 – this is one you have to taste to believe!
"Kauzo" means “place” in the Esperanto language. Located just south of Mendoza in the foothills of the majestic Andes Mountains, this wine hits all the targets for the malbec grape. Aromas of lilac and plum tarts, with black cherry cola and a juicy mid-palate that leads into a spicy and creamy finish. The wine is pleasantly complex – especially for this scintillating price – with decidedly balanced notes of fruit, oak, and spice all carefully integrated into a supple offering with the legs to still be standing 8 years from now.
Altamira (3600 feet) and La Consulta (2950 feet) are the Valle de Uco vineyards “co-fermented” for this 100% rocking malbec. Primary fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, with secondary fermentation in second-use oak barrels. The wine ages in barrel for up to 12 months prior to bottling to round out any edges, into a velvety smooth, and highly polished finished product. Mendoza malbecs have earned a reputation for producing some of the highest quality-for-dollar wines in the world and this exciting new producer certainly upholds that fine tradition! A perfect wine to load up on for the next few months… warm, bright, spicy, and just plain delicious! If you don’t grab a few, we might just buy them all!
