Ah, Brouilly! The rolling hills, the steep slopes, the verdant greenbelts of land nearly untouched by time...this is what French wine country is all about! 92 POINTS for this bright, fresh, and spicy red wine that we simply can’t drink enough of – all for UNDER $16! What a find!

Robert Perroud’s estate has been around since the late 1700s, bearing witness to the French Revolution, and set in the Beaujolais Cru of Brouilly, long considered the gem of Lyon. This is classic gamay, made in the tradition of Beaujolais – fresh, pretty, and fruity – with a perfect balance of structure and acidity. At 36% OFF, this is your perfect sidewalk bistro wine and always at home on your table!

This wine, made from 50 to 80-year-old gamay noir grapes, is classic Cru Beaujolais. Easy to sip – but with the structure, brightness, and intensity to develop over decades! Unfortunately, things aren’t always quite so easy for those who pick the grapes! This site is set on loose, pink granite soils on an incredibly steep slope (we are talking 40% grade in places)! Balloquets Hill is a nearly impossible vineyard to farm and harvest…hence the name, L’Enfer des Balloquets ("The Hell of Balloquets"). But hey, the best wines are about harnessing the struggle, and this certainly does that with a grace and poise that captures the heart of Cru a remarkable price.

An enticing ruby and purple color draw you into the glass, where aromas of smoked game, red currants, clove, and cherries join up with more bramble berries, licorice, and a fresh, minty minerality. Easy to drink, dry, and balanced with impeccable purity…this is some lip-smacking, pulse-racing, fun juice that you won’t want to miss! If you’re looking for an easy-sipping, uber-fresh, and geeky-cool wine to pour at parties all year long… look no further!

Fifty-year-old vines planted on granite give a wine with good concentration. Ripe and generous tannins are cushioned by full black fruits. Drink from late 2022.
