Vigneti Reale Negroamaro Norie Salento 2017
Other Reds | Italy
History points to this unique grape, more tear dropped in shape than typical wine grapes, as being brought to Puglia by Illyrian colonists from across the Adriatic Sea around the 7th century B.C.E. The grape excelled in the dry and warm Mediterranean climate of Salento, tended by the Ancient Greeks and surviving through the fall of the Roman Empire by the Greek Orthodox monks. Today, the folks at Vigneti Reale are hoping to expand the conversation around this historic grape, with an easy-drinking, 100% negroamaro that is supple, spicy and smooth.
The wine pops with myriad berries, black plum jam, cherries jubilee, and aromatic, woody, and spicy finish of dried thyme, clove, and allspice. The tannins are velvety…making for a full-bodied wine that ends with a pleasantly juicy freshness. The price, the drinkability, and the uniqueness of this wine make it the perfect “triple threat” that is sure to fly out of our warehouse. Grab some of this steal and revel in the wisdom of your choice for months to come!
