$120 for a case of southern French rosé has our taste buds pulsating. “Don’t think, drink pink” is the theme here today. Rosé is perhaps the second most versatile food wine in the world (Champagne reigns supreme on that front), so it is pretty much always the right choice in a pinch. This blend of merlot, cabernet franc, tannat and colombard is delicately pale salmon hued and front loaded with all kinds of bright citrus notes. Taste kumquats, ruby red grapefruit, key lime and white strawberries before spiraling into a mouthwatering finish that tickles with notes of oyster shell and flinty river rocks.

The Domaine Les Fumées Blanches lies in the Côtes de Gascogne region of southwestern France. More famous for its Armagnac, François Lurton discovered Les Fumées Blanches (named for the morning mist that drifts like white smoke over the vines), was ideally suited to crafting delicate white and rosé wines. This is tasty, crisp and a pleasure to sip!

About the Producer

Fourth generation winemaker, Francois Lurton is a busy man, making wines in three other countries, in addition to distilling gin and even making a bit of vermouth. Despite all that, the brand practices sustainable agriculture with a particular focus on environmental responsibility. Across the board, his focus is to create great wines expressing the true character of the varietal and the terroir where they are grown.

91 Wine Enthusiast -
Pale salmon in color, this wine doles out kumquat, calamansi and grapefruit rind on the nose. Light and bright lemon, Key lime and pink-grapefruit flavors take on a pleasant bitter-lime note towards the finish. It's loaded with mouthwatering acidity and a hint of oyster shell on the end.
