The family run “La Vialla” estate just happens to be the largest biodynamic farm in western Europe. From raising sheep, tending beehives, producing olive oil and growing a vast array of fruits and vegetables, this estate does it all. They landed on our radar, because they also make this spectacular wine.
Savory and assertive, this wine is bold, meaty and full of character. Experience black tea, dusty cherries, sweet earth, baked plums, blood orange, fresh ground white pepper and an intense undercurrent of graphite, porcini mushroom and even a touch of freshly laid asphalt. About the Producer
Just picture it, waking up and looking out your bed & breakfast window in Tuscany amongst the vineyards. Fattoria La Vialla is just a fifteen minute drive or vespa ride from the magical village of Arezzo. The family run estate has it all: vineyards, orange and olive groves, vegetable gardens, and flocks of Sardinian sheep (whose milk is used to make pecorino on the property; they also as produce james, jellies, sauces, pastas, vinegars and oils). This estate is magical and what I dream about nightly. The winery is certified organic and biodynamic, also 100% vegan. The estate is run by the Franco brothers, Gianni, Bandino, and Antonio who came from the textile industry. They acquired their property in 1978 and have continued to grow and acquire adjacent vineyards.
