Silver Mountain Pinot Noir Miller Hill Santa Cruz Mountains 2013
Pinot Noir | US
Silver Mountain is run by founder/winemaker Jerold O'Brien. Nearly 50 years ago, their story began with a philosophy "to live a life in harmony with mother nature", and they have been quietly producing award-winning, small lot wines from the mountain ridges south of San Francisco ever since.
The wine? An absolute steal! Hold onto your hat, because this wine is whipping! At nearly a decade old, this wine seems to just be hitting its stride and is drinking like a great-aged Burgundy. It must be something to do with spectacular Santa Cruz Mountain fruit, sustainable viticulture, and winemaking. It's bright, perfumey, and full of forest floor, tree bark, and candy cap mushroom aromas that absolutely floored our tasting panel. Opportunities like this just don't come around every day!
Twenty minutes in the glass, this pinot shines bright with dried cherry, holiday herbs, more foresty aromas with hints of leather, and toasted balsam in the finish. There's a soft density with a refreshing lift on the palate from the coastal acidity - it continues with more cherry, cranberry, and a perfumed floral note.
And the price? You saw the price, right? $15.95 on 6+ bottles with free ground shipping!! Woohoo! Don't miss...!
