Chardonnay is the ultimate winemaker’s grape – where choices made following harvest will have a profound impact on the flavor, style, and overall impression of the wine. From toasty and buttery Cali-chards to the flinty, coolness of unoaked Chablis – no other grape has a wider spectrum of style. Enter this crisp and bright unoaked chardonnay from our favorite Upstate New York producer – Anthony Road! At under $10, this is some epically fun, crisp, and cool chardonnay to have in great supply!

With inviting aromas of bosc pear, green apple, wet stones, and pretty white flowers, this chardonnay is something truly unique…almost Alsatian in aromas! The palate is classically pure chardonnay, with lemon cream, more orchard pear, and apple notes, with a mineral edge and a twist of melon rind. Great concentration, but no heaviness, with acidity and roundness providing ample complexity…all this for just $9.95!!! Inconceivable!

The Martini family is coming up on their 50th year farming grapes in the cool Finger Lakes region, just off the shores of nearby Seneca lake. Now three generations deep, this a true family affair – founders John and Ann are still daily fixtures at the farm, while the second and third generations run hospitality, agriculture, and winemaking. This is a nod to farming in a time forgotten, and the wines embody the passion and dedication of a family trying to grow the best grapes possible, one year at a time. Take a chance at this, and you will not be disappointed! A case of this will set you right for the year ahead…crisp, cool, and fresh chardonnay coming your way! While it lasts…

About the Producer

John and Ann Martini moved to Anthony Road in 1973 at the urging of a friend that touted the joys of grape growing in the Finger Lakes. They loaded up 2 young children and left their home in Baltimore, where John worked for WR Grace to set up their farming life on the west side of Seneca Lake. Surprisingly neither Ann nor John had an agricultural background, unless you count John?s youthful summers at his grandparent?s farm in Melvin, Illinois. But together and with the help of family and friends they planted their first 5-acres, Foch, in the summer of 1973. The vineyard grew, to 30-acres, as did the Martini family, to 4 children. Today, the whole family is dedicated to producing the best wines from the Finger Lakes. This is a labor of love for the Martini family.
