Villa Poggio Salvi Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva 2015

Sangiovese Blends  |  Italy

JS96, WE96

On our last visit to Salvi in November 2021, we were fortunate to TASTE this even, and so we are bouncing off the walls to have this direct-import price. Wow! Read the reviews first!

In 1979, conquered by the beauty of the landscape, Ing. Pierluigi Tagliabue decided to buy the company and start the renovation of the estate. Today, Villa Poggio Salvi has 21 hectares of vineyards in Montalcino, all planted with sangiovese grosso clones. The optimal altitude contained between 300 and 500 meters, the soil rich in galestro and the breeze coming from the Tyrrhenian Sea, maintain the ideal terrain and the perfect microclimate for the vineyards. In 1998, the company was enriched with a new estate in the land of Chianti, "Casavecchia", where the Chianti Colli Senesi, Tosco and Lavischio, and sangiovese and merlot based IGT are produced. Villa Poggio Salvi is a company that looks to the future conducted with passion and competence by Pierluigi Tagliabue and his nephew, enologist Luca Belingardi.

Mind-blowing at $54.95, collectors… While it lasts!

96 James Suckling -
Fascinating aromas of black cherries, bark, flowers and orange peel. Roses, too. Full-bodied, yet so refined and beautiful. Really soulful and beautiful. It has tar, mushroom and bark undertones. It?s full-bodied and polished with fine tannins. Needs time to come together and soften, but such a beauty already. Better after 2024.
96 Wine Enthusiast -
Delicious and loaded with finesse, this red boasts aromas and flavors of underbrush, blue flower, ripe plum, juicy red berry and baking spice. Notes of licorice and tobacco linger on the finish while velvety tannins offer polished support. Drink 2022–2030.
