Barbaresco doesn’t get prettier than this! 93 POINTS! The Rivettis are some of our favorite folks in Piemonte, and this gorgeously perfumed nebbiolo is seductive and complex – at a level far beyond our delicious price! The warm vintage of 2017 has this singing right now, and better still – with FREE SHIPPING on three...this can be yours in time for the Holidays!

Beautiful, perfumed bouquet of roses, violets, lilacs, and more, followed by red plums, sweet pomegranate, molasses, myriad spices, black tea, and grilled sweet herbs – this is a mouthful of vinous perfection. Piemonte nebbiolos can be tightly wound and closed in their youth, but not so here! Generous, friendly, elegant – just so good, so light on the palate, in a restrained Burgundy of yesteryear kind of way, with enormous flavors and persistence. This will hold for a decade plus, but at this price, why wait? What a treat!

“Froi” is the name for the vineyards surrounding a central farmhouse on the hill of Serraboella, one of the top sites for world-class nebbiolo in the revered Barbaresco commune. The Rivetti family’s commitment to organic and biodynamic farming has made for a spectacular wine – one that perfectly captures the “feminine” essence of Barbaresco, despite the ripe and warm character of the 2017 vintage. Barbaresco is one of the great regional expressions on earth, and with our price, there is no better time to try the Rivetti family’s awesome Froi bottling!

About the Producer

Massimo Rivetti Family Farm with its 25 hectares, cultivated under the organic certification, grows both traditional and international grapes. The annual production is around 100.000 bottles, mainly divided between Barbaresco and Barbera d'Alba. All the fields are grouped around three farm houses: Froi, Garassino and Palazzina. Inside the first one, situated into the village of Neive, there is the winery which is built on Serraboella hill, one of the most important for the production of Barbaresco.

93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
This is a wonderful blend of organic fruit from various plots. The Massimo Rivetti 2017 Barbaresco Froi is very floral and lifted, with pretty notes of lilac and violets. This wine definitely comes from a hot vintage and brings forth terrific intensity and character. The tannins are integrated but still, there is a nice crunch or tightness to this wine that gives it tension and verve. They did a nice job with this release of 7,000 bottles.
92 Wine Spectator -
This is broad, exhibiting plum, leather, spice and eucalyptus flavors. A spine of dusty tannins keeps it firm and focused, ending with hints of wild thyme, juniper and earth. Best from 2023 through 2037. 800 cases made, 500 cases imported.
92 James Suckling -
Freshly spiced dried cherry on the nose, spruced up by some orange rind. Medium to full body with fine, firm tannins and a balanced, tasty finish. From organically grown grapes. Best after 2022.
