Mount Eden Chardonnay Estate Santa Cruz Mountains 2016
Chardonnay | US
Chardonnay from the legend that is Mount Eden in the Santa Cruz Mountains (not to be confused with the less expensive second label, but also fantastic, Domaine Eden) is JUST what we need for our chardonnay fix. THE….PRICE!! Unheard of, really, and a wine that will blow your mind.
Mount Eden is a fantastic historic property on the steep slopes of the Santa Cruz mountains and it is dedicated, we would say, to “Burgundian” style pinot and chardonnay – the 2016, which we just received, is simply ROCKING right now, filled with character, drinking like a 100+ Burgundy with a “Montrachet” in the name!
The levels of lemon here are heady - plus flowers, honeysuckle, blood orange, crushed stone, peaches…all in a rich yet fresh texture…amazing!
We have 22 cases – while they last!
About the Producer
Mount Eden Vineyards is a small historic wine estate perched at 2000 feet overlooking Silicon Valley in the Santa Cruz Mountain Appellation, about 50 miles south of San Francisco. Founded in 1945, it is recognized as one of the original boutique California wineries, focusing on small lots of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Mount Eden's lineage of estate bottled Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is the longest in California. Since 1981 Jeffrey Patterson has guided the winemaking and grape growing at Mount Eden. His emphasis is on wine growing rather than winemaking; and an obsession with gentleness and naturalness in the cellar, his wines are full of nuance and subtlety.
