About the Producer

Tenuta degli Dei is a passion project that has spanned thirty years of dedication and hard work. The estate was purchased in the early seventies by Roberto Cavalli and his son Tommaso. The estate is well devoted to vines and breeding horses. The name comes from Roberto's beloved German shepherd, also called "Lupo." Tommaso Cavalli is powered by a modern spirit in full respect of the values of Tuscan tradition and its very essence. His strong attraction to all that is good and genuine, combined with a constant search for beauty also inherited from his father Roberto, lead him to follow his passions to design and conduct a number of projects in the field of food & beverage.

From the wine-fashion-horse father-and-son team of Tommaso and Roberto Cavalli, the 2015 Cavalli is a lusty blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 35% Petit Verdot. This is the estate's top-shelf wine. It is aged in a combination of barrique and tonneaux for 18 months. Cavalli reveals a dark and luscious fruit profile with plenty of dark blackberry, Morello cherry and plum to bring the wine through its aging evolution. You get lots of primary intensity over a mid-weight palate that ends with a blast of very crisp acidity.

The 2015 Tenuta Degli Dei is one of the best editions of this wine I can remember tasting. Bold, racy and exuberant with tremendous depth, the 2015 has a lot to recommend it. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc works very well in this ample, large-scaled wine. A generous amount of Petit Verdot (35%) helps keep the flavors fresh and vibrant in this super-expressive red blend from the Cavalli family.
