Tempus Fugit Proprietary Red Napa Valley 2018
Proprietary Blends | US
Tempus Fugit Proprietary Red, which is Latin for “time flies” (this wine will fly, too!), is the new label from the illustrious Weston Edison, well-known for his Silver Ghost cabernets, among others. He’s learned a few tricks from rockstar winemakers Russell Bevan (too many 95-100 point scores to count), and Jason Moore of Modus Operandi. Stylistically, this follows a “Left Bank” (Bordeaux) proprietary blend, and comes from different sites in Coombsville, St. Helena, and Rutherford (from a VERY famous site here that we are sworn to never utter because of an NDA).
This lush, rich, opulent red is 50% cabernet sauvignon, 25% cabernet franc, and 25% petit verdot. And was aged 36 months (!) in French oak (how is this wine not $100?). It’s dark and dense with tons of aromatics - figs, blackberries, violets, tobacco and chocolate, with toasted spices and a long, full, mouthcoating finish. Truly drinks like something MUCH pricier!
BUT! ONLY 25 cases - with free shipping on 4, we think this is an easy decision for deep dark Napa red lovers!
