Domaine Jean-Marc Bernhard Riesling Alsace 2020

Riesling  |  France

Ground shipping included on orders of 6 bottles or more!

Alsatian Riesling is like no other. Extremely mineral, complex, fresh and stony! So good and vastly undervalued in the world of wine. Take it from the great Ian d'Agata, formerly of Vinous Media and now of Terroir Sense: "Does Alsace make the greatest white wines in the world? Yes."

We’ve been working with the Bernhard family for over 5 years now, and the wines just get better and better, all while maintaining our SUPERB pricing. This is what you want for spring, oh yes…!

Domaine Bernhard is a small, family-owned wine estate in the foothills of the Vosges Mountains, directly west of Colmar in the little burg of Katzenthal. In 16th century buildings on an estate they purchased in 1802, the family creates provocative, even exemplary Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer. From granite-based soils, these wines are crisp, clean, fruity and fragrant, and very well balanced with slightly lower alcohol levels (12- 13%) than their neighbors to the south.

43% OFF retail! Amazing what direct-importing gems like these can do for pricing, are we right? We imported about 35 cases for the year, so jump on it now. What to expect? White flowers, lemon pith, green almonds, crisp green apples, quince, citrusy aromatics with what we’d call chamomile tea and lemon...just barely sweet with lightning-strike acidity and freshness. As noted, simply vibrates with nervy, piquant brightness and long, clean, pure flavors.

First come, first served! Cheers!

About the Producer

Domaine Bernhard is a small, family-owned wine estate in the foothills of the Vosges Mountains, directly west of Colmar in the little burg of Katzenthal. In 16th century buildings on an estate they purchased in 1802, the family creates provocative, even exemplary Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer. From granite-based soils, these wines are crisp, clean, fruity and fragrant, and very well balanced with slightly lower alcohol levels (12- 13%) than their neighbors to the south. Beginning in 2012, all Bernhard wines are certified organic. Everything here is done to promote the life of the soil which is the root of expression for each terroir: regular plowing, grass in the vineyard, compost, maintenance of old-to-ancient vines, only the most detailed and precise attendance to viticulture. The 9th generation of the Bernhard family currently operates the estate.
