L'Orme de Rauzan Gassies Haut-Medoc 2016
Proprietary Blends | France
You will wish you ordered more when you taste this one. While you can easily pay $200+ for a 97-point Bordeaux, this “insider” wine, part of an ancient estate, is one that savvy Bordeaux drinkers covet…it quite simply overdelivers drastically at its price!
Chateau Rauzan-Gassies was founded in the 16th century and belonged to Bernard de Baverolles in the 17th century. Over time, this vast estate was divided and had been separated into the estates of Rauzan-Gassies, Chateau Rauzan-Segla, Chateau Desmirail and Chateau Marquis de Terme. Chateau Rauzan-Gassies is one of the fifteen estates classified as a second growth in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. The estate consists of 28.5 hectares of vines all planted on sandy gravel soils which are typical of the Margaux appellation.
Dark, rich and potent with tiers of complex red fruits tinged with cigar box and sweet tobacco, berries and lightly spiced. Great structure and great aging potential, too! UN-REAL for $22! While it lasts!
