Sourced from the oldest vineyard in California dating back to 1852, just a year after California was ratified as America's 31st state! No vineyard in California personifies American history like the Bucklin's. These old soldiers have survived prohibition and account for the oldest producing vineyard in all of California today. Will Bucklin, is a steward of this history and has some serious winemaking chops to go along with his farming prowess, gaining his education at UC Davis and making wine at King Estate in Oregon and training at Lafite-Rothschild. We have just 4 cases of this exceptional bottled California history available.
About the Producer
Bucklin winery was founded by the four siblings, Arden, Kate, Ted and Will. It all began when their great grandmother purcahsed a ranch near the base of Hood Mountain in the Sonoma Valley. In 1972, their mother Anne moved to Glen Ellen where she married Otto Teller. Then in 1980, they came across an old and abandodned vineyard for sale. Otto purchased this vineyard and began to restore this vineyard to what it is today. Will Bucklin and Lizanne Pastore live on the family property and manage Old Hill Ranch. Will studied Enology at the University of Davis and interned at Chateau Lafite Rothschild back in 1985. Will also worked in Australia and in Oregon, where he was winemaker at King Estate. Arden, Kate and Ted all help Will manage the family farm. It is a true family estate.
