This is one of those Invino “case me” type wines! We’ve brought this in directly from the beautiful Pierazzuoli winery for a few years now. It’s organic, utterly delicious, pure sangiovese (notes below) that sells out every year.

Ah, Chianti! Set amongst the rolling hills and lush farm life of Northern Tuscany, the Pierazzuoli family has maintained a thriving estate that has a bit of everything. Their Montalbano estate Riserva is a sensational, organic, 100% sangiovese that is dead-in-your-tracks remarkable...at a tantalizing $19.95 (and over 40% OFF), this should be a go-to on your dinner table for years to come!

Pierazzuoli is a legit old-school producer, making a little organic wine, raising a few goats and chickens, making some killer organic olive oil, and offering a few rooms to stay in and a little Osteria to eat heartily at. Dario Pierazzuoli focuses on the import/export business, Enrico Pierazzuoli runs agriculture/winemaking and their two sisters, Serena and Enrica, run the Osteria and agro-tourism for the two estates – Tenuta Cantagallo in Montalbano and Farnete in nearby Carmignano. The Cantagallo estate extends over 500 acres, with 60 acres planted to vines.

The fantastic ‘18 percolates with black cherries, dried sour cherries, sweet maraschino liqueur (did we mention cherry?), plus exotic and toasty Asian spices, Tuscan sunshine, sweet and earthy fennel...this is straight-up joy in a bottle! Throw a bottle on your dinner table and nearly every dish you can imagine will taste better than ever. You’ll be sure to empty this in record time, and you know what?? NO BIGGIE! This is ONLY $19.95! 91 POINTS, people! While it lasts...

93 Wine Spectator -
Harmonious and complex, this red is hitting its stride, with cherry, earth, smoke, leather and woodsy flavors plying the elegant profile, while a cocoa-like dusting of tannins lends support. Persistent, with a lingering aftertaste of smoke, fading fruit and spice. Drink now through 2030. 1,500 cases made, 700 cases imported.
91 Vinous -
Notes of smoke, leather and crushed blake stone give way to musky cherry as the 2018 Chianti Montalbano Riserva unfolds in the glass. This is silky-smooth, contrasted by mineral-tinged red berries and hints of sour citrus, yet remaining elegant throughout while tapering off to a hint of vanilla. Fine tannins linger, along with hints of mocha and sweet herbs. While only lightly structured and enjoyable sooner than later, the 2018 is quite seductive.
