AXR Proprietary Red Napa Valley 2019
Cabernet Blends | US
Honestly, this price must be some kind of April Fools Day error, right? The fruit that makes up this blend is literally some of the best fruit that money can buy. Built from 90% cab, and the remaining cab franc, merlot and petite verdot. Vineyard sources include Hossfeld ($125+), Fertado in Stag's Leap District, and Sodaro in Coombsville ($100+)!
As many of you know by now Jean has made so many 95-100 point wines over a relatively short period of time it staggers the mind. Although AXR is a relatively new winery, it pays homage to the rich history of this area. The fledgling Napa Valley wine industry was just getting off the ground in the late 1800s. The original winery on-site operated in the 1880s -- a successful lodge was in operation in the 1920s and 30s, operated by a Hungarian family. This lodge was called “The Madrone’s”, named after the plethora of Madrone trees scattered around the property. Today, is a partnership between four individuals (referred to as the FAB 4), including winemaker Jean Hoefliger, Don Van Laeken, Kelly Trevethan, and Mark Schratz.
Make sure to grab it... No more until the ‘21 is released!
