I Veroni Chianti Rufina La Rusticola 2019

If you snagged a few of these last time, you KNOW. This hits all the sweet spots in this EXCELLENT vintage, a perfect all-the-time red, which is dialed in for great food, too. We are convinced this winery in Rufina (the smallest and highest elevation of the Chianti subzones) is making the BEST wines of their existence! Small lots, excellence in farming, and warm, round, superbly approachable reds just have so much bang-for-buck. This will take you right back to the rolling hills of Tuscany...

Fattoria I Veroni has passed through a few families in the last few decades which was originally founded in 1895. The Mariani family purchased the estate in the beginning of the 20th century and still owns it today. The name I Veroni is derived from the wide terraces surrounding the farm where tobacco leaves and grain used to grow. Their vineyards cover 20 hectares and 30 hectares are made up of olive trees.

2019 is a fantastic vintage. This is DARK Chianti! Deep! Wonderfully perfumey of ripe black cherries and plums and spices! For our price, it’s amazing. Cherries for days, fresh and dried, ripe, warm, notes of cinnamon and earth, even a bit of cocoa, this is simply one of the biggest overachievers we have ever had from I Veroni, and we’ve had ‘em all!!
