Virgen del Galir Pagos del Galir Mencia 2017
Other Reds | Spain
We’ll get right to it -- this simply crushes anything else we can think of for a ten-dollar bill. You can't even get a burrito at a taco truck for a $10 spot anymore! Mencia is a wonderful, juicy-but-serious grape, predominantly excelling in Spain's Bierzo region, but we think its found a wonderful new stomping ground in Valdeorras. This killer find is PACKED with flavor and terrific complexity. Hard to believe the price -- our importer in Spain completely hooked us up today! This crazy price will only last as long as we have it, which won't be long!
Virgen del Galir winery was founded in 2002 in a small village named Entoma in the Valdeorras DO in Spain (northwest Spain, above Portugal). A long forgotten region for winemaking is now coming to light for fantastic purity. The terroir is made up of perfect soil of decomposed schist and high altitude. You can taste it in this juicy red, and it will hold for a few years, too.
Make a paella or grill some shrimp, and you’ll be in heaven! ONLY 35 CASES!
