About the Producer

“A few minutes’ drive from Saint-Émilion, in the village of Saint Pey d’Armens, Château de Saint-Pey covers an area of 20 hectares. The north-south oriented château opens onto a large park which provides a glimpse of the first parcels of vines and offers a magnificent backdrop for this historical wine estate. A close-knit, highly motivated team works tirelessly to produce high-quality grapes and, from them, aromatic wines that combine modernity and tradition. Far from the typical visual codes of Saint-Émilion wines, the label of recent vintages has been redesigned with elegance and sobriety to reflect the image of a wine of today. Château de Saint-Pey belonged to the Musset family through six generations. Dating in part from the sixteenth century, the château with its wide open spaces is an outstanding, historic wine estate. Close and friendly collaboration between the family and the new owners enabled the family’s traditional expertise to be passed on starting in 2011. Messrs. Grosdidier and Stévenin have breathed new life into the château and its wines, which they produce using traditional methods, but with a hint of modernity and ever-soaring quality.”

91-93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
A blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 de Saint-Pey is deep garnet-purple colored with stewed plum, blackberry pie and blueberries with hints of cedar chest and hoisin plus a waft of bay leaves. Full and concentrated, with a firm backbone of grainy tannins, it has a long, spicy finish.
91 James Suckling -
A creamy and savory red with plum and berry aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, round and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink in 2023.
