Romain Collet Chablis Forets Premier Cru 2017 - Invino

Romain Collet Chablis Forets Premier Cru 2017

Chardonnay  |  France

Ground shipping included on orders of 6 bottles or more!

$35 for Premier Cru, single vineyard Chablis is a blow-the-roof off deal anytime, but made by one of our favorite Chablisienne producers, Romain Collet… that takes this to a whole ‘nother level! Not much to be had, so do what you must to lock this down. The price drops even further to $30 when you get 6 or more, ground shipping included. And for a wine of this pedigree…having 6 is never a bad idea!

The Collet family has been making wine in Chablis since 1792, and their consistently superb chardonnays perfectly showcase the region, and arguably the best place on Earth to grow the grape! Beautiful, zesty, crisp citrus fruits, crunchy pears, bitter almond and crushed oyster shells, just as Chablis should be (although for a lot less than normal if you’re an Invino client!). A little creamy complexity here, too!

The Collets broke free of the negociant model in 1979 and have spent the last five decades building a reputation for consistent excellence across their portfolio. After his father suffered a stroke in 2008, Romain Collet took over winemaking at Domaine Collet, adding on his own eponymous domaine the following year (he was 23 years old). Today, the family controls an impressive suite of parcels in Chablis’ best sites: Les Clos, Valmur, Mont de Milieu, Montée de Tonnerre, Vaillons, Montmains, Butteaux, Les Pargues, Séchet, and of course, Les Forêts.

So much to love from one of the greatest vintages of the decade! While it lasts...!

About the Producer

The Collet estate went from selling to negociants in 1952 to producing their first vintage in 1979 under their own label. Gilles Collet helped his father, Jean, with the winemaking, and is also remembered as one of the most animated personalities in Chablis. He made spectacular wine and was the "life of the party". Gilles had to pass the torch to his son in 2008 due to health reasons, but had the utmost faith and trust in his son to carry on his legacy. The estate is now managed by Romain Collet who has stunned the wine world with his expressive wines, not to mention converting the family holdings to organic farming.
