Champagne Veuve Doussot Brut Selection NV
Propietary Blends | France
It’s unlikely you’ll find a better bottle of beautiful bubbly at this price! We bought as much as we could, but it won’t be enough!
Sometimes, your broker in France (we have 3!) sends you something special, something not readily available in the U.S., that you’ve never heard of, and it BLOWS you away. Those are good days! We tasted this last week and flipped for it! At the price we scored, we bought all we could on the spot!!
The Brut Selection is 85% pinot noir and 15% chardonnay, with super aromatic stone fruit and melons drizzled with grapefruit. White flowers, too, plus Meyer lemon and hints of crushed rock minerality that gives it nice length and persistence.
Just 30 cases...we bought the rest!
About the Producer
The Joly family has been growing vines in the heart of the Champagne’s Côte-des-Bar region for over a century. We delved a bit into the history, but mostly we drained the bottle in record time. Veuve Doussot is located at Noé-les-Mallets, a charming little village in the heart of the Côte-des-Bar in the southern reaches of Champagne. This area is closer in distance to Chablis than to the center of Champagne, with a warmer microclimate ideal for pinot noir. The soils of Veuve Doussot are rich with both clay and Kimmeridgian limestone, less of the chalky soils found further North. It is a small family producer with over 50 years on this estate, and the vast majority of it is sold in France...until now!
