Domaine Chambeyron La Chavarine Cote Rotie 2015
Rhone Blends | France
Now, Domaine Chambeyron is one of those “insider” Cote Roties that savvy Syrah lovers keep to themselves (hey, no one wants the demand to drive the price up, right?), but we got such a particularly awesome deal, we have to share it….
To quote the legend Marcel Guigal on the other-worldly 2015 vintage in the Northern Rhone: "2015 is on the level of 1929, 1947, 1961," he proclaimed. "It is surely the vintage of a lifetime. In 55 years, I’ve never seen anything like it." Wine Spectator went so far as to rate the vintage 99 points, the highest score EVER for the region!
Big and juicy, but SERIOUS too, with great aging ability, and a rich, spicy, meat-on-the-bones texture. PERFECT if you love big Syrah that’s immaculately done. WHAT a price!
About the Producer
The Chambeyron family has been farming tobacco, apricots, cherries, and grapes in the Northern Rhone since 1895. Bernard Chambeyron initially chose to grow tobacco over wine, but after revaluating his path, he planted grapes for Cotes-du-Rhone production in 1977. Then, he slowly connected the dots to Cote Rotie. Now, it's Mathieu Chambeyron's turn, Bernard's son, who has taken the reigns on his family winemaking lineage. His wine style is a compromise of sense: paying more attention to pure fruit.
