Panther Creek Chardonnay Willamette Valley 2016
Chardonnay | US
92 POINTS! A legendary producer at a simply drink-all-the-time price!
You might think you’re drinking a French wine when you pop the cork on this one. Meursault, for example, from Burgundy, often has a wonderful toasted hazelnut note -- and so does this. Drinking perfectly right now -- everyone needs a few bottles of good Chardonnay on tap, are we right? Tony Rynders of Domaine Serene is the winemaking wizard behind these wines and they are as good as they have ever been. Tony, of course, was the man who crafted Wine Spectator's number two wine of the year with his Domaine Serene Evenstad Reserve Chardonnay, so this man knows how to make world-class Oregon Chardonnay that can rival the best in the world. ONLY 38 CASES! We’re loving this right now and you will too. While it lasts!
About the Producer
"Oregon Pinot heavyweight Ken Wright founded Panther Creek Cellars in 1986, establishing his reputation for making big, fruity, collector-worthy, Pinot noirs. He garnered significant accolades for his signature blends as well as single vineyard designate wines from Shea Vineyard, Temperance Hill, and Freedom Hill Vineyard. In ‘89 Wright moved Panther Creek into McMinnville's Power Station, and in 1994 Mark Vlossak of St. Innocent took over as consulting winemaker, cementing the brand’s award-winning style. After Vlossak's run, winemaker Michael Stevenson and assistant winemaker Bill Hanson took the wines in a more natural, nuanced direction. Then, in late spring of 2013, the winery was acquired by Bacchus Capital Management, a private equity fund investing in the wine industry, and Tony Rynders of Domaine Serene fame took over as consulting winemaker. Panther Creek opened its Woodinville, WA tasting room in May of 2018."
