Sitting on the northwest side of Napa, Diamond Mountain District is a part of the Mayacamas Range that produces some of the most characterful Cabernets with very long aging potential. This shows that classic rustic mountain cassis fruit, cherry extract, and hints of cedar and warm spices, and has an opulence and warmth from the warm ‘15 vintage, and it drinks on the riper and softer side for Rudy's wines. Opens and changes rapidly in the glass, too – this is one you can enjoy today or lay it down for the next 15 years.

Von Strasser is one of those legendary Diamond Mountain wineries that have been producing knockout Cabernets for three decades!! All you mountain Napa Cabernet lovers, this one is utterly pristine. Sitting on the northwest side of Napa, Diamond Mountain District is a part of the Mayacamas Range that produces some of the most characterful Cabernets with very long aging potential.
When Rudy purchased the old Roddis Estate Winery on Diamond Mountain back in 1989, he chose this location for its potential to produce refined, classic Cabernet, with the structure and depth to age like Bordeaux. His first wine pursuits carried him to Robert Mondavi, but he didn’t stop there. Why not take a chance and contact one of the biggest names in wine, Chateau Lafite-Rothschild, and casually ask for a job? Well, it paid off! As the first American allowed an internship at Chateau Lafite-Rothschild, Rudy was profoundly impressed by the elegance and prestige of Bordeaux. He seeks to portray something of this character in all of his own wines, always considering the unique climate and fruit of his vineyard.
