Domaine Faury-Gros Pinot Noir Siebert Vineyard Sonoma Coast 2017
Pinot Noir | US
Just 5 barrels of this single vineyard, single block wine were made for the world! A rarity for sure and a fantastic wine to blind-taste your Burgundy-minded friends on! A crazy-good buy today!
A winemaker on the rise, Simon’s killer pinot noir Siebert Vineyard is a rarity...but at this price?! Simon Faury is a French-born winemaking savant. His resume includes Domaine de Chevalier, Château Pichon Longueville, Bodega Michel Rolland in Mendoza, Robert Mondavi, The Napa Valley Reserve and Harlan Estate, and most recently, Crown Point with Philippe Melka. This gorgeous, wildly complex pinot is the second release under his own label, Domaine Faury-Gros. This has the nuance of a great Burgundy with the concentration and power of California's best.
This is terrifically concentrated with impeccable balance, and there is savory herb, briary fruit and a forest floor component that sets this apart. It has a crazy-long, layered finish -- not coincidentally, it’s perfect with roast turkey. It has more stuffing and tannin than many California pinots, and that is quite deliberate, according to Simon. He has done his best to make a wine that is both enjoyable upon release, and mind-blowing with ample cellaring. BRAVO! While it lasts...!
