Quite simply, this is stunningly complex and serious malbec, from some of the finest vineyards in the Uco Valley, and we were indeed lucky to get in early on this producer. Karim Mussi is a certified rockstar with a bonafide international following these days… To have some of this malbec priced like we do is a true wonder!

Read the review below, but know this -- this is dripping with pure malbec goodness. It’s everything we love about the often misunderstood grape, and nothing we don’t. There is no excess...everything in this wine has a purpose and is neatly in its place. Try this with a beautiful marinated hanger steak and some fine cheese on the side and it will be right up next to your $100 stuff, we promise!

About the Producer

ALANDES [combination of words indicating "wines produced throughout los Andes"] is one of Karim Mussi's projects, which together with its partners found a beautiful century-old winery to develop new brands and styles without the restriction of producing wines with grapes from a specific terroir. Since its inception, Karim has based its enological dogmas on three fundamental pillars: innovation, understanding of the terroir and sustainable vineyards.

94 Descorchados -
For Alandes, Karim Mussi selects grapes from six vineyards, all from throughout the Uco Valley. 70% of the wine was aged in barrels, and the rest, in concrete, which contributes fresh Uco Valley fruit to this wine that is already friendly, with good, piercing tannins. It also has a lot of fresh and lively mountain fruit from the Uco Valley. If you pay attention, you’ll see that after a while in the glass, herbal tones appear to lend complexity.
93 James Suckling -
A very succulent and fresh expression with good tension between fruit, acidity, and fine tannins, giving a handy, long finish. Drink or hold.
91 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The 2018 Malbec Uco Valley is a blend of wines from six vineyards in the Valle de Uco, but the idea was to make a wine different from those from Altocedro (the main project from Karim Mussi). In 2018, it has the freshness and concentration from Uco with drinkability and balance, with less wine matured in oak (only 50% now) and with a lighter effect of the wood in the aromas and texture. It's floral and expressive, clean and varietal, with good ripeness without excess. It has a medium-bodied palate with fine-grained tannins, a bit more powerful that 2017, with good aging potential. 10,400 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2019
