Domaine Philippe Livera Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles 2017

Damien Livera is at the helm, the fourth generation of Livera winemakers in Gevrey, and has quickly established himself as one of the top young winemakers in the Côte de Nuits. Originally established by his great-grandfather in 1920, under the name Damien des Tilleuls, the winery has since changed names and modernized. Damien has gone about upgrading and renovating the vineyards and winery, even including domaine bottling. Word is getting out about the prodigious source of authentic Gevrey wines produced by Damien that we now have to fight for each vintage and have stiff competition with locals and other suppliers who have also discovered these fantastic wines. The family’s village-level vineyards are natural extensions of premier cru plots, and as such, these wines overachieve in every vintage, with fine tannins and rich textures, not to mention an uncanny ability to age far above their station.
