About the Producer

Domaine Jean-Claude & Nicolas Fayolle is located in the village of Gervans, 5 kilometers north from Tain-l'Hermitage in the Drome department. Nicolas Fayolle represents the 3rd generation of the family - he obtained a degree in "Viticulture- Oenology" and "Commercial Science". He studied in Burgundy and joined the family estate in 2003. His father, Jean-Claude, helped convert the estate from Apricot to Grape growing and since that time the estate has seen critical acclaim from all sides.

93 Vinous -
Deep magenta. Highly perfumed dark berry, cherry and floral aromas are complemented by suggestions of olive, cracked pepper and allspice. Appealingly sweet and penetrating on the palate, offering juicy blackberry, cassis and cherry liqueur flavors that slowly firm up on the back half. Blends richness and energy with a sure hand and finishes impressively long and gently tannic, with the cherry, floral and spice notes recurring. This 2017 is a few steps ahead of its 2016 sibling, showing both more depth and energy, which is a neat trick for a hotter vintage. (all whole clusters)
90-92 Jeb Dunnuck -
The 2017 Crozes Hermitage La Rochette come from granite soils and will see upward of 15 months in barrels before bottling. It offers a more classic bouquet of ripe black fruits, pepper herbs, and damp earth/obvious minerality. This smoky, meaty Syrah is medium-bodied, has good mid-palate depth, and plenty of old school tannins on the palate. Drink this classic effort over the coming 7-8 years, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it keep longer.
91 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The 2017 Crozes Hermitage La Rochette combines gentle notes of cracked pepper with ripe blueberries in a full-bodied, creamy-textured wine. It's lush on the palate, only firming up on the lengthy, mouthwatering finish.
