Domaine Santa Duc Habemus Papam Chateauneuf du Pape 2017 - Invino

Domaine Santa Duc Habemus Papam Chateauneuf du Pape 2017

Rhone Blends  |  France

WA94, VN93-94

It is a rare day when we score a few cases of high-scoring Chateauneuf at this level. Wow! Happy Tuesday indeed! Santa Duc is a historic producer that dates back to 1874, and winemaker Yves Gras makes elegant, seamless and intensely complex wines with indigenous yeasts and no filtration. Trust your wine merchant, you’ll be blown away by what you get in this bottle of old-vine Grenache!

We have about 15 cases to sell, amazingly, so if SERIOUS Chateauneuf hits all your buttons, jump on this while we have it! First come, first served!

93-94 Vinous -
Glistening magenta. Ripe red berries, candied flowers, licorice and white pepper on the pungent nose; a smoky mineral flourish adds vivacity. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering sweet cherry, raspberry preserve and floral pastille flavors that spread out and deepen on the back half. Closes silky, sweet and impressively long, with slow-building tannins adding shape and subtle grip.
94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
A blend of several small parcels, this was my first chance to taste the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Habemus Papam out of bottle. It lives up to the high expectations I had for it out of foudre, combining lively red-berried fruit with silky-textured tannins. Raspberries and garrigue, dried spices and fine leather notes all feature on the nose and linger on the finish, while the palate is medium to full-bodied, yet virtually weightless at the same time.
