John Enfield Lockwood - physicist and guitar builder - got his start in the industry in 2004 at Heron Lake vineyard, and went on to work harvests at Littorai with Ted Lemon and Failla with Ehren Jordan. He spent five years farming Sonoma Coast and Russian River vineyards, and when an opportunity arose in 2010 to buy unsold Heron Lake fruit he seized it! Those grapes became the first bottles of Enfield Wine Co. Enfield is now a family project — John, his wife Amy, and their daughter London — and one that epitomizes what might be called the new California: with a focus on the vineyard, natural winemaking, and drinkability.
