Beaulieu Vineyards BV Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2022
Cabernet Sauvignon | US
We relax a little when we see that BV label. Beaulieu Vineyard has been a Rutherford institution for over 125 years, and those initials mean unbelievable consistency, quality, and value. This 92 pointer is dependably delicious – get the burgers going and set yourself up!
This was the legendary Napa Valley estate where André Tchelistcheff became America's first superstar winemaker. Now, 100-point winemaker Trevor Durling – only the fifth head winemaker in BV's 125-year history – is carrying that torch. You’d be hard pressed to find a more consistently excellent producer in California.
“Few wineries have played as critical a role in the history of American wines as Beaulieu Vineyard.”
– Kelli A. White, Napa Valley Then and Now
This 2022 earned 92 points from James Suckling for being what so many Cab drinkers count on it to be: “A warm and generous wine with a sweet-seeming richness that makes it easy to sip without further aging.” It’s one of Napa’s best open-it-now, everyday values, especially at our price. This vintage is 81% Cabernet Sauvignon with classic splashes of Syrah, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, and it spent 15 months in 30% new oak.
Expect a polished, decadent, friendly glass bursting with sleek black currants, strawberries, and blackberries, seamlessly layered with roasted fennel, rosemary, and warm mocha. It’s kissed with a touch of vanilla oak, and finishes with fine-grained, gentle tannins that bring you back in for another sip and make it incredibly easy to drink. A great deal on 92 points and 125 years of confidence.
About the Producer
Beaulieu Vineyard (BV) has been a legend in the Napa Valley since 1900. They were one of the few wineries permitted to operate during Prohibition by producing sacramental wine for the Catholic Church, and the estate served as the winemaking home of one of the valley's true patriarchs, the one and only André Tchelistcheff. André's unmatched skill, innovation, and mentorship at the winery helped catapult the estate to the global stage. The story began in 1900 when Georges de Latour and his wife, Fernande, moved to California from France, later expanding in 1903 with 127 acres of land to produce wines that could rival the French masters. Upon seeing the land, Fernande famously exclaimed, "Quel beau lieu!"—meaning "What a beautiful place." Still today, BV stands as one of the greatest legacy wineries in the United States.
