Massimo Rivetti 'Via Rivetti 22' Langhe Rosato 2022
Pinot Noir | Italy
We’re still getting a little rain, but most days, it’s warm enough to want to linger when you open the refrigerator… It's rosé season here in Napa! And time to remind you that we import a bright, happy, apricot-colored dream from the Langhe sub-region of Piedmont, Italy. Cutting out the middleman lets us bring it to you for only $15.95!
Massimo Rivetti Family Farm is in Nebbiolo and Barbera country, so it’s a delightful quirk that this rosé is made from organic Pinot Noir. They pick the fruit specifically for rosé – early, so the grapes taste snappy, rather than repurposing juice from the red winemaking process. This gives us a clean infusion of strawberry, watermelon rind, and Asian pear. We love the hints of orange zest, rose petal, and raspberry riding the icy wave. The acid is easygoing, and this is an unfussy godsend on a hot night.
But it plays so well with food, you can get a case of 12 for $191.40 and plan to drink this at your leisure til the dead of winter.
We always recommend this with fish tacos, but as mentioned, Rivetti’s Langhe Rosato makes almost everything taste more alive. This is a longtime customer favorite, a family producer we feel good supporting – Massimo, Silvana, and their three sons run the winery – and under $16! A perfect, easy, affordable ritual.
About the Producer
Massimo Rivetti Family Farm traces its roots to 1948, when the Rivetti family began farming vines in the hills around Neive in Piedmont’s Langhe. Today the estate encompasses 25 hectares cultivated under organic certification, growing both traditional Italian and international grapes. Annual production is around 100,000 bottles, mainly divided between Barbaresco and Barbera d’Alba. Their vineyards are grouped around three farmhouses – Froi, Garassino, and Palazzina – and the estate has become known for environmentally conscious farming and classic, terroir-driven expressions of Nebbiolo and Barbera from the hills around Neive.
