How do we have any of these bubbles left?! So pure and lovely – and wildly overdelivering at just $16.95 for a 93 point, organically farmed French dream!

Oh là là, the way the visual sets the tone. This has a golden gleam in the glass that looks like you’re splurging at Bar 228 at Le Meurice… live jazz, incredibly flattering lighting, leather armchairs. Do you feel deliciously dizzy yet? This is a Crémant, so made outside the bounds of Champagne but in the same classical, expensive method. But! Not a splurge – an all-out STEAL at under $17!

The Decanter World Wine Awards gave this sparkling 93 points for its “delightful purity of white flowers and pears with fine bubbles, a cleansing acidity and an elegant, bone-dry finish.” We love the sensations of fresh-baked bread, Meyer lemon, tarragon, elderflower, white peach, and pistachio butter. Clean and gorgeous.

The village of Hunawihr looks like a storybook, with its half-timbered houses, soft green hills, and vineyards backed by dark, forested peaks. The stunning centerpiece is a fortress-church from the 1500s, and at its base, the Mittnacht family made this Crémant d'Alsace Brut. The grapes are certified biodynamic and organic. Marc Mittnacht believes in regenerative farming because it achieves three goals: bringing the customer an herbicide/pesticide-free product; giving the vines the means to defend themselves naturally; and protecting the precious terroir. Limestone and marl soils are ideal for getting focused, delicate flavors from Pinot Blanc.

An astonishing value – order two for the full price drop. But let’s be reasonable and get at least six to enjoy the free shipping. Who knows if and when we’ll get any of this again?

About the Producer

The Mittnacht estate is set in the village of Hunawihr, in the Alsace region of northeastern France, next to a charming old fortified church. The property was established by Paul Mittnacht in 1958, and soon after, in 1963, his sons André and Louis took the reins and formalized the winery as Domaine Mittnacht Frères (“brothers”). The vineyards were certified biodynamic and organic in 1999 – pioneering for Alsace. Today, André’s son Marc runs the estate alongside his wife Paule and their son Pierre. Their 11 hectares of vines are planted across some of the best soils in Hunawihr and Ribeauvillé. Mittnacht is known for its precise, terroir-driven wines – particularly Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir – prizing elegance over power. The Mittnacht surname means “midnight,” reflecting Alsace’s German heritage.
